Cywydd Deuair Fyrion: Poetic Forms
Poetic Form Fridays are made to share various poetic forms. This week, we look at the cywydd deuair fyrion, which is a Welsh couplet form.
The cywydd deuair fyrion is a Welsh couplet (or two-line stanza) form. Lines are four syllables with an AA rhyme for each couplet. Multiple couplets can be combined into a stanza or poem. Or a poet can write a simple eight-syllable, two-line poem.

Play with poetic forms!
Poetic forms are fun poetic games, and this digital guide collects more than 100 poetic forms, including more established poetic forms (like sestinas and sonnets) and newer invented forms (like golden shovels and fibs).

Summer Song, by Robert Lee Brewer

the lovers swoon
as fireflies blink
and crickets sing
into the night
for their delight
as time suspends
and worries end.
