Smart authors never write the nonfiction book first—they always write and shop the proposal. In this presentation by industry expert Jane Friedman, you'll learn how to take your nonfiction book from idea to salable concept to persuasive proposal. Find out the difference between a nonfiction book concept that gets an immediate, enthusiastic response from agents/editors—and one that gets no response. Along the way, you'll learn the basics of nonfiction proposal writing, as well as common mistakes that authors make in describing their book idea to industry professionals.
What you'll learn:All writers are invited to submit a nonfiction book hook (up to 300 words), OR query letter, before the event. (Instructions on how to submit your work are sent after you officially register.)
A critique is guaranteed for each registrant either during the live session or via e-mail afterward, depending on when the materials are received.
Each writer, whether critiqued during the live event or not, receives the session's critique materials after the event. All personal or identifying information will be removed from materials, except for book titles.

Agents and editors agree: Improper story beginnings are the single biggest barrier to publication. Why? If you have a bad beginning, no one will keep reading. Does your manuscript grab a reader's attention at page one and never let them go? Find out in this session.

| Presenter: | Al Katkowsky is a singer/songwriter musician and voiceover artist whose book, Question Of The Day, has been downloaded over 100,000 times as an iPhone app. |
The opportunity in mobile publishing is staggering. It is estimated that, by 2011, there will be over one billion web-enabled mobile phones worldwide.
For those who may be considering putting their resources into other e-book formats, please consider this: iPhone owners outnumber Kindle owners by a ten to one ratio. While there is a Kindle app for iPhone, Kindle pays only one third of the book price back to the author for self published works, whereas Apple pays over two thirds back to the author/creator of each app.
In this webinar, we will demystify the iTunes store, iPhone app creation, and the approval process, and put you in the driver's seat.
