What prompted you to write this book?

I was born into a family where psychic and mediumistic abilities have spanned generations, so communicating with spirits is in my DNA. I’ve never viewed spirit contact as weird or something to fear. Unfortunately, many people doubt that spirit contact is possible and even fear it.

As someone who perceives and communicates with spirits regularly, this inspired me to question how it happens, why it happens, and where it happens. My quest for understanding led me to study aspects of the afterlife ranging from the cosmic to the subatomic. This journey has included examining different belief systems, ancient ruins, and unexplained phenomena at mystical hot spots around the globe.

Just don’t expect a dry read! I trudged through enough dry reads during law school, and I promised myself never to inflict that on anyone.

How long did it take to go from idea to publication? And did the idea change during the process?

It took nearly six years to go from idea to publication. As a researcher I have come to accept that ideas always change and evolve because that is part of the creative process. The more I explore, the more I learn, and the more I learn, the more concepts evolve.

What I write is based on research, as well as from Mediumship readings I conduct for people which I have termed “interdimensional communication.” Each interdimensional communication session is unique and presents challenges to the reader and medium alike.

One of the concepts I explain in The Afterlife Frequency is the “unfolding.” The full impact and meaning of information transmitted from spirits takes time to fully understand. It can take hours, days, weeks, and in some instances years for the full meaning of messages receiving during interdimensional communication to make sense.

That is why, when writing this book, I knew it would take time and wasn’t something that could be rushed—it came together when and how it was supposed to.

Were there any surprises or learning moments in the publishing process for this title?

The surprise with The Afterlife Frequency came when my publisher (New World Library) asked me to narrate the audio version of the book. I felt like a kid at Christmas opening up a present. Even though I’ve had quite a bit of experience as a speaker in public, on air, and in studios, I thoroughly enjoyed working on the audio version of The Afterlife Frequency.

Were there any surprises in the writing process for this book?

When you’re a psychic medium surprises are part of life, and how I developed the RAFT Technique was one of the biggest surprises during the writing of this book—but to find out how that happened you’ll have to read The Afterlife Frequency!

What do you hope readers will get out of your book?

For thousands of years people have reported accounts of near-death experiences (NDEs), shared death experiences, deathbed visions, and visitations by the spirits of deceased loved ones. These phenomena have been dubbed supernatural and paranormal. These buzzwords shroud these otherworldly encounters in the mysterious, unknown, and unprovable—and people tend to fear what they don’t understand.

The Afterlife Frequency is about replacing this fear with the light of understanding that the supernatural is part of nature, and that the paranormal is actually quite normal. It isn’t about turning the reader into a medium, because not everyone is a medium. However, even though not everyone is a medium, everyone is capable of having a mediumistic experience and benefiting from it.

One of the key features of this book is the RAFT (recognize, accept, feel, and trust) technique. I developed this four-step process to guide the reader to become more aware of the presence of spirits and spot the signals and messages that we exchange with them. RAFT also provides insight into interpreting messages after the contact.

The Afterlife Frequency breathes new life into understanding the afterlife. It also delves deeply into the pain of grief, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), while credibly demonstrating how spirits intervene in our lives to help us. This book also shows readers how to conduct themselves during communication with spirits through a medium. It guides readers to approach a mediumistic session with an open mindset and shows how to remove energetic blocks that can hinder the spirit communication process.

If you could share one piece of advice with other authors, what would it be?

Learn from Judge Learned Hand.

When I was in law school I was constantly wading through dull legal opinions written by judges with brilliant legal minds but no gift for making their writing interesting. The upside was that if I couldn’t sleep, I’d just crack open a law book, read a few paragraphs, and I’d be unconscious in no time flat.

Then I discovered the opinions of Judge Learned Hand, one of the superstars of American Jurisprudence. Even with the most difficult legal issues he found a way to bring his words to life. I admired his dry sense of humor, especially when he described the U.S. Tax Code as a “fantastic labyrinth…whose words merely dance before my eyes in a meaningless procession: cross-reference to cross-reference, exception upon exception.”

Judge Hand inspired me to be passionate about your writing. If you are, then no matter the subject matter you will find a way to bring your words to life for the reader.
