The Non-Human

Every writer needs a little inspiration once in a while. For today’s prompt, the point-of-view will be non-human.

One of the hardest challenges for me as a writer is the non-human perspective. I think it's because a lot of my writing is grounded in the physicality of being human—the body is where we feel and how we express our emotions (a clenching gut or a tapping foot) and how we process our world (like the delicious feeling of getting into a bed with fresh sheets).

But pushing ourselves outside our writing comfort zones can teach us about our voices and push us to be better writers. That's why, for this week, whether it's a robot, a college dorm room, that penny that always turns up where you least expected it, or something completely different, let's write from a non-human perspective.
