New Agent Alert: Jack Mozley of Pérez Literary & Entertainment
Literary agent alerts (with this spotlight featuring Jack Mozley of Pérez Literary & Entertainment) are golden opportunities for new writers because each one is a literary agent who is likely building his or her client list.
Jack Mozley grew up in Cornwall in England and has lived in Paris, Hong Kong, and Singapore before his now home of London. Finance Director at Pérez Literary & Entertainment since its launch, Jack Mozley is now open to queries in science fiction. Jack has always loved SF’s capacity to disrupt and subvert dominant perspectives and encourages submissions from writers from underrepresented backgrounds.
Jack holds a PhD in Quantum Physics from École Normale Supérieure in Paris, France, and an MPhys from the University of Oxford. He attributes his twin loves of quantum physics and SF to growing up the son of a mining engineer and a poet, each using, as they do, a little of the extraordinary to understand the everyday.
Currently Seeking
Jack is looking for submissions across the breadth of SF. In speculative, he’s at home with the high-concept—bring him the next Never Let Me Go or The Fifth Season. He also adores social commentary that continues the tradition of The Left Hand of Darkness.
Give him something with the complexity of the Culture novels or the desperate inevitability of Oryx and Crake. Visions that are not only outside the box, but over the horizon—thinking of Childhood’s End. He wants to see someone do justice to our super intelligent AI overlords!
The overwhelming arcs of Foundation and Dune were among those that brought him to the genre, while Tchaikovsky’s Shards and Children series keep him here, but Jack is equally delighted with a deep zoom on finely drawn characters as in The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet.
