For the most part, do not think that a short story of novel can be structured and written in the same manner that 99 percent of films that come out in Hollywood are written. These are two different animals.
It's okay, I would imagine, to have them in their separate cages, eying one another. But letting them try to intermingle will probably end in some kind of odd, foreseeable death.
