Yesterday, I had a reader Tweet a quote of a poem from my Solving the World's Problems collection on Twitter. It was an unexpected and touching moment, but it got me thinking that I should probably mention folks can get a copy of it up here in the opening paragraph. If you're interested, click to continue.
For today’s prompt, write a footwear poem. A poem about shoes, flip flops, socks, slippers, flippers, boots, pumps, and so on. If you'd prefer not to dedicate a poem to your footwear, just mention footwear somewhere in the poem. That's right; your hi-tops don't have to be the star, and it's totally cool if somebody's clogs play a minor role in the poem.

Publish Your Poetry!
The 2016 Poet’s Market, edited by Robert Lee Brewer, includes hundreds of poetry markets, including listings for poetry publications, publishers, contests, and more! With names, contact information, and submission tips, poets can find the right markets for their poetry and achieve more publication success than ever before.
In addition to the listings, there are articles on the craft, business, and promotion of poetry–so that poets can learn the ins and outs of writing poetry and seeking publication. Plus, it includes a one-year subscription to the poetry-related information on WritersMarket.com. All in all, it’s the best resource for poets looking to secure publication.

Here’s my attempt at a Footwear Poem:
“sandals”
in summer
in georgia
there's only
one way men
cover feet
& that is
with sandals
without socks
& until
winter comes
to cover
our cold feet

Robert Lee Brewer needs to hurry up and get a new pair of sandals before they all sell out in Georgia, because the warm temps have returned--and he wore out his last pair last summer. Shoes just won't do.
