2021 April PAD Challenge Countdown: T-minus 10

Welcome to the second ever April PAD Challenge Countdown, in which Robert Lee Brewer shares a prompt and a poem (to get things started) in the 10 days leading up to the 2021 April Poem-A-Day Challenge. Let the poeming begin!

Welcome to this second ever countdown to the April Poem-A-Day Challenge! I'm feeling extra creative this year. If you are too, then let's get at it!

For today’s prompt, take the phrase "Let's (blank)," replace the blank with a word or phrase, make the new phrase the title of your poem, and then, write your poem. Possible titles might include: "Let's Get At It," "Let's Have Fun," and/or "Let's Poem." So let's see what we can come up with for this first day.

Remember: These prompts are springboards to creativity. Use them to expand your possibilities, not limit them.

Here’s my attempt at a Let's Blank Poem:

"Let's Go Then"

let's go then
beyond the waste land
of practical cats & love songs
hollowing out men & quartets
on certain half-deserted streets
in april (cruel april!)
without hope of another wednesday
to say the things we find
il est impossible de dire
with our rolled pants of to be
or not to be or maybe
whatever you would prefer
