2021 April PAD Challenge: Day 19

Write a poem every day of April with the 2021 April Poem-A-Day Challenge. For today’s prompt, write an animal title poem.

Another Monday, another chance to get the week off to a poetic start.

For today's prompt, write a poem with an animal in the title. Titles like "Counting Sheep," "Beside the White Chickens," and "Horse" would all qualify. Of course, you can stretch this prompt however you wish. So don't duck this opportunity to horse around with your animal spirit.

Remember: These prompts are springboards to creativity. Use them to expand your possibilities, not limit them.

Here’s my attempt at an Animal Title Poem:

"phoenix"

they're handing matches to the children
& telling them to do as they will
as the streets fill with much rejoicing
& the houses that burn down will be replaced
along with the families that inhabit them
