2021 November PAD Chapbook Challenge: Day 20
For the 2021 November PAD Chapbook Challenge, poets are tasked with writing a poem a day in the month of November before assembling a chapbook manuscript in the month of December. Today’s prompt is to write a Blank You poem.
Apologies for the late prompt today. As much as I try, it seems like there's always that one day of the month that I'm moving a little slower.
For today's prompt, take the phrase "(blank) You," replace the blank with a new word phrase, make the new phrase the title of your poem, and then, write your poem. Possible titles might include: "Miss You," "I Love You," "We're Coming for You," and/or "Thank You."
Remember: These prompts are springboards to creativity. Use them to expand your possibilities, not limit them.

Here’s my attempt at a Blank You Poem:
“there's nothing here for you”
beside the receding shoreline
i watch the glow of distant fires
& think about the future
smoke filling my lungs
