2021 November PAD Chapbook Challenge: Day 30
For the 2021 November PAD Chapbook Challenge, poets are tasked with writing a poem a day in the month of November before assembling a chapbook manuscript in the month of December. Today’s prompt is to write a The End and/or The Beginning poem.
It's time for our fifth and final Two-for-Tuesday prompt of the month (and final prompt of any kind). However, this challenge does not end with today's prompt. There's still the little matter of putting together a chapbook. Look for a next steps post on Thursday (12/2).
For today’s prompt:
- Write a the end poem, and/or...
- Write a the beginning poem.
Remember: These prompts are springboards to creativity. Use them to expand your possibilities, not limit them.

Play with poetic forms!
Poetic forms are fun poetic games, and this digital guide collects more than 100 poetic forms, including more established poetic forms (like sestinas and sonnets) and newer invented forms (like golden shovels and fibs).

Here’s my attempt at a The End and/or The Beginning Poem:
“unplugged”
is it true that all endings
only lead to new beginnings
or is that something
only optimists say
on their rainy days
to keep the blues at bay
because i do like to begin
& let new things in
but then again
why do good things end
when i'm picking up wind
i suppose i'll just pretend
that this one ending
leads to a new beginning
or at least something
