2022 November PAD Chapbook Challenge: Day 7
For the 2022 November PAD Chapbook Challenge, poets are tasked with writing a poem a day in the month of November before assembling a chapbook manuscript in the month of December. Day 7 asks poets to adapt.
Wow! Can't believe it's already been 7 days! This month is flying by so far.
For today's prompt, write an adaptation poem. Maybe because I'm an editor and writer, my mind immediately jumps to movie and TV adaptations (or book adaptations even). However, life on earth has required adaptation long before written language. I hope everyone is able to adapt to this prompt today!
Remember: These prompts are springboards to creativity. Use them to expand your possibilities, not limit them.

Here’s my attempt at an Adaptation Poem:
“Adapt or Die”
A line from Moneyball, but really,
it was one of the guiding principles
for Charles Darwin in evolution:
that it's not exactly who's the best
at this or that, but who can adapt
and change with the times. It's true
that I wanted one thing out of life
when I was a teenager, another
when I was a younger adult, and
even last year, I'm sure, I wanted
something or another, but now,
I'm content with this moment,
and, I'm sure, I'll be content with
the next and the one that follows
for as long as I continue to exist.
