Wednesday Poetry Prompts: 728

Every Wednesday, Robert Lee Brewer shares a prompt and an example poem to get things started for poets. This week, write a friend poem.

For this week's prompt, write a friend poem. Your friend poem could be about a friend, dedicated to a friend, explore friendship in general terms, discuss how hard (or easy) it is to make friends, and so on. Let's get friendly this week.

Remember: These prompts are springboards to creativity. Use them to expand your possibilities, not limit them.

It's free, easy, and the comments (for the most part) don't require manual approval (though I check from time to time for those that do).

Here’s my attempt at a Friend Poem:

“five years,” by Robert Lee Brewer

& just like that
one solitary sentence
walked through the room
& ended the argument

& the friendship
after five years
of hanging & talking
& bending with the wind
